OKAY SO MR. A THIS IS THE VIDEO I WANTED TO SHOW YOU IN CLASS. THIS IS A VIOLIN COVER THAT I THINK IS PRETTY GREAT :

I love how happy he is playing this song. I feel a lot of musicians don't really show much emotion while playing because its all flowing into whatever music they're making. I love when people get lost in their music and still have an ear-to-ear grin. I found this video on Tumblr so I can't really say I know much about this artist but I do enjoy this cover.
I am currently learning guitar and it's so hard for me to get lost in my music or really enjoy what I'm playing because I keep involuntarily thinking about where to put my fingers, am I pressing hard enough, what's the next notes fingering. A, D, and E chords were easy and I was pretty sure I was gonna do great and now we're on minor chords and notes with no common fingers and I'm worried I'm going to have to put a lot of time that I don't have into this class. (Of course I knew I would practice after school, but maybe instead of 20 minutes a day, maybe an hour or so.)
I don't know I just really wanted to show you this video because I remembered Mr. A's "Pop goes the Weasel" on his jaw because of playing viola.

  1. You're right, he's pretty into it. That's cool, thanks for sharing. As far as the guitar, my best advice is try and think of each chord as a shape, and try and memorize the way the shape feels. Move between two chords slowly and steadily. Gradually move faster. Slow and steady is the trick though, especially the steady part. The other advice i'd give you is this: don't think of it as practice, think of it as play, and reward yourself with time to play after you've done everything else you're supposed to do. This change in mindset might seem silly, childish, and subtle, but it's extremely powerful. Good luck.
