Recently I have been listening to the radio more than the continuos tracks on my phone. It's a nice change, but also a big one. I never thought I'd go back to listening to 96.7 yet here I am attempting to dance to Blurred Lines by Robin Thick.
My favorite so far has been Lorde. I don't know if it's the beauty of her voice or physical appearance that intrigues me so much, but I just love everything about her. Of course I'm going to say my favorite song by her is Royals because it really is. I can't remember the other song, I'll add a link if I do. But it's like talking about how she doesn't come from a rich past but still made the best out of everything and still is. I love stars like that, they're actually trying to get people to look out with a positive view on things. I think she's trying to inspire kids to feel good and live life to the best. Not "YOLO" which was used correctly by many stars before Drake ruined it.
I think my music taste changes so much, and I'm not sure if I'm really okay with it; but hey I'm happy and healthy.

All week in class we have been listening to Led Zeppelin. This is one of those bands that I have known since I can remember. Their songs are always in my head and I really enjoy it. The guitar, drums, bass, and raspy voices just combine into a sanctuary of sound. I think Connor and the lead singer have quite a few similar physical features. Especially the hair.
My friend use to get soo mad because "everyone thinks Led Zeppelin is just one guy ugh!!" I never knew much about the band but I always use to listen to dazed and confused when I was in a bad mood just to cheer me up a bit, now that I listen to the lyrics I don't know why it made me happy.
I loved the album we listened to. Zeppelins songs are a little tedious but you always come out liking them, you know? Once you get past the length of them, you can actually listen to the greatness they contain. The solos maybe what makes them so long. They're great at first and you want to rock out, but after a whole you're like is it over yet?
Overall I think Zeppelin is great and a huge part of rock and roll history. I just wish their unit was as long as the Beatles,

I am unsure if we were even suppose to do blogs this week but I'll do these just to be safe. In class we watched a movie about a bunch of rock stars talking about electric guitars. I didn't get to watch all of it because I had to leave to work basketball games. (Fun!) I think it was the artist from U2 that first came up, making a guitar out of what looked like litter and scraps. The sound was amazing even if there was only a few strings! I was pretty amazed at how he was able to create something out of so little.
Some of the guys while being interviewed in their cars were talking about how this meet up was going to turn into an out right brawl; while others were saying this is going to be the most genius thing to happen since the creation of the guitar.
I really wish I could of watched the movie, it seemed pretty interesting :).

I have no idea what to blog about currently? Maybe how Mr. A actually talks to us in class like were people and not just mindless creatures sitting in a classroom.
Maybe how basketball coaches can be the most horrid people on earth? (Can not all)
Maybe how terribly cold and wet it is outside and how much I hate and love it.
OH OR MAYBE HOW WE'RE LEARNING A BEATLES SONG IN GUITAR!!
We're learning I Wana Hold Your Hand, it's really fun!
As I've gotten more interested and started enjoying playing guitar, learning songs is a lot more fun than it is stressful. Learning new chords has become an exciting event! It's really fun because now when my brothers come into town we all get to play guitar and teach each other new things. I feel like for once I can talk to them as an equal on something.
Dylan's really excited to learn Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay and Wyatt has been here enough to look at my music collection.
I remember a while ago I made a blog about how hard it was to play guitar, Mr. A commented about muscle memory, which Mr. Bergdorff stresses as an important factor nearly everyday. I've come to really enjoy guitar and I'm pretty excited to learn more.
I just wish the calluses on my fingers would come back.

Recently we've been listening to mid Beatles ( I feel like I've said this a million times), our most recent listen was Magical Mystery Tour. (I think). We skipped the first half of the album because the song aren't all that great; but the songs we did listen to were some that I've really enjoyed in the past but never had the realization that they were by the Beatles. I am the Walrus, Hello Goodbye, and Penny Lane were all a big part of my childhood. I got to visit Strawberry Fields in New York and there was an awesome dude preaching Beatles there with an amazing memorial circle made of roses. He even had a beautiful black lab that slept on the bench by it all (literally on the bench).
I remember in New York we went over a lot of Beatles history, even passing by where one of them was assassinated (was it John?).
All in all, I'm starting to realize why Mr. A loves the Beatles so much and why he uses them in his class a lot, they're truly outstanding when it comes to the history of rock and roll.

So I have been trying to tell you this in class but a sudden wave of insecurity showers me every time I get the chance.
RINGO IS COMING OUT WITH A BOOK!!!!
It should be out around Christmas time (so pretty soon).
I haven't done any research on it, my dad actually told me about it.
But Ringo and the other Beatles always carried around cameras and Ringo kept all the photos he took; he's putting them all into this book I guess like a scrapbook of their busy career.
If you have any interest in this please do tell me and I'll do some research and get you more organized and reliable information. I'll get you one when it comes out too if you'd like. :)
But yeah, I didn't know if you already knew or not but I figured I'd blog about it because you have to read them anyway.
Also I'm really sorry for not doing this blogs on time. School has been really rough lately, I've had a lot of work just piled on me and I have to tutor a lot of people and I'm usually trying to take care of them before myself and it ends up a horrid mess with my mother yelling about the one B out of all my A grades. I know there's no excuse but thank you so much for letting me do these without penalty, I promise I'll keep up on my blogs the rest of the year.
Leave a comment or something if you're curious about the book!

Last week we listened to Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys, I truly believe that I was the ONLY person who did NOT like the album! I though the sound was off the it just didn't sound nice to me. I felt like I could feel the writers mental break down coming on. The album made me feel like I was having a mental breakdown.
I mean I'm sorry because I know the album meant a lot to the only person who reads my blogs (Mr. A) but I just really didn't like it. I really prefer older Beach Boys like Surfin the USA!
We've also been listening to "middle" Beatles a lot and I really enjoy it so far!
I think I already blogged about Revolver and Rubber Soul but they were pretty great.
I'm pretty excited for Magic Mystery Tour :)

GUYS GUYS GUYS, WE WON A FOOTBALL GAME!!! 27 TO 14 ANDERSON! GO TROJANS!!
To make this about music I'll talk about the bands (AMAZING) performance after the game. Marching band is one of the most intricate, time consuming, complex, and dedicated extra curricular activity out there.
My boyfriend plays saxophone, and is really talented if I might say so myself. I sat by him at the game and listened to how many notes he plays per measure. He has to play like 4 or 5 in a matter of seconds, and it always seems to come together into an amazing tune.
The whole band is very talented, walking and playing an instrument is NOT that easy. I wouldn't know, but I mean come on, memorizing the steps, the notes, the beats, the patterns, and keeping up with everyone else all in perfect time is amazing. Band members are such wonderful people too, despite marching hours and hours in the blistering heat, they're so happy and excited to play every football game and every competition.
To all you football players Y'ALL ROCK! GREAT JOB TONIGHT!
To all you band members Y'ALL ARE SO TALENTED AND PERFECT IN EVERY WAY, GREAT JOB TONIGHT AND ALL YEAR!

This friday we listened to no other than THE BEATLES. We listened to their more "mid" stage, where they only put out two albums in 12 months (OMG). I actually like this form of their music more than any other. I like the culturally, mixed sounds. I think they were a lot more willing to break out and do what others might think is wrong. I know they were on drugs most of the time they were writing and jamming; but hey, its good music.
Yellow Submarine from the Revolver Album was always my favorite and first song by the Beatles, I remember in 5th grade my art teacher tried to get us to watch the yellow submarine movie, none of us could keep up and ended up getting scared of the strange creatures prancing through the screen.
I like the Beatles music much more when they're outgoing and aren't trying to please all of their fans. They truly are great artists and so many people take them for granted.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE :D. This halloween was actually my 2 year anniversary with my boyfriend! We've been through a lot together, and influenced each other a lot. If it weren't for him I would have never been introduced to the dubstep and electronic music genre. It's currently one of my favorites. I like a mix between Indie and electronic (I don't know the exact name of the genre so we're just going to say "electronic"). Sometimes Vince (boyfriend) and I will be listening to his remixes and I usually like them better than the original! Which is really weird for me because usually when I like a song, I HATE when people change it, but I really like his taste in music.
I don't know of a lot of things to say, this week has been pretty low-key aside from piles and piles of tests and homework (111 ON SPORTS MED TEST WOOP WOOP, waiting for results on Math and Pre-Ap World History). But yeah... I'm going to go listen to more Jaymes Young.

On Tuesday, we watched Help, a movie with the Beatles. It was about Ringo getting a fan letter with a ring in it, after he put it on, horrid things start to happen. Soon a woman tells him that his ring is a sacred sacrificial ring, and who ever is wearing it must be covered in red paint then be killed. This apparently happens everyday. Ringo and the other Beatles do all they can to get the ring off, attracting others who want the ring for world domination or some other unrealistic thing.
I learned from the first Beatles movie we saw (Hard Day's Night was it?) that the Beatles humor is very hard to understand, and nothing will make sense if you don't think about it or don't pay attention.I personally think some things were very funny, but other's were just odd. The countless, odd, and unsuccessful attempts of the evil...dudes went very slow and got kind of annoying. Although things like the Beatles room and ability to not laugh at their jokes were pretty funny and cool.
Mr. A explained to us about how much the Beatles had gone through while they were making help, 5 albums and 2 movies in less than 2 and a half years? I never understood all the steps to creating an album, and it really confuses me why it takes artist so long. I guess it's because I haven't taken time to research all the steps; I mean I couldn't write 3 song lyrics if my life depended on it...Regardless of my confusion I still really respect artists, and the Beatles worked their butts off, which showed a lot of dedication to their music.

Make Up Blog
I actually think I like this song. I say I think I do because I don't know if it's just catchy ,or the beats nice ,or theres some odd brain washing lyrics; but it's pretty great. I remember driving around with my boyfriend having this song blaring and singing at the top of our lungs.
I was introduced to a live performance that really surprised me! Check it out,

This week hasn't had a lot of music for me. Out of curiosity I looked through youtube for more "current" music. My current favorite is Avicii, Wake Me Up
(These are all songs I don't love but I'm okay with hearing) Katy Perry Roar
and One Republic Counting Stars
I really love the upbeat beats in these songs. Katy Perry's song makes me feel like I have power in myself and that I can conquer all. Counting Stars makes me wana get up and dance and sing! Then Avicii just gives me "good vibes" and wana go back out the the country. I kind of get how the girls feel being outcasts (not as much as they were) but a lot of people think I'm like terrifying or a monster or something because of my excema. Although the bullying has gone away with age.

This week in class we listened to The Who, the first song was My Generation. What really annoyed me was that everyone was saying "I don't like it because of the stutter" but IT WAS A JOKE!
The song was written (WITH THE STUTTER) to joke with whom I think was the singers brother because he had a stutter!!!!
I do like The Who, I found it crazy that some people hadn't even heard of them! I'm really bad at connecting songs with their artists, I only know the story about the stutter because my dad likes to research more about the personal side of bands rather than the media pronounced side.
On friday we watched Mind of a Chef or something like that and I really want bacon now. I'm gonna try some of the tricks they used with the ramen noodles. I think I'll do the Italian one with butter, cheese, and I don't remember what else. I have over a million recipes to "spice up" ramen but I never have time to do them. Oh well.

After my car got detailed, I had to drive home with my mom who gets a little.... stressed when her children drive (even the 22 year old). So Dylan (the 22 year old big brother) gave me a Black Keys CD to calm our nerves. I got to see the Black Keys last year at ACL and they were pretty great!
I like their voices and harmonies, I think they fall under rock, but that might be a given.
I don't know them well enough to say the exact songs and exact albums that I love, but I've been listening to the CD all weekend. Its the El Camino album, and just because I'm lazy, here's a link to the whole album. El Camino. Some of my favorites are Gold on the Ceiling (10:39), Lonely Boy (0:00), Little Black Submarines (14:50), Money Maker (17:47), Sister (24:30), and Hell of a Season (28:15).
The last few songs on that album I'm not crazy about. I think it's because I haven't listened to them before.
I remember the Black Keys playing Gold on the Ceiling at ACL and even by the port-a-potties it was one of the best ACL shows I've ever seen.

I have never tried to label rock as one certain thing. I know it as a genre of music that almost every "old" band in the world is labeled as. I think rock needs guitar, drums, a singer with long hair, and some dude in the back goin' nuts. Rock and roll is my dad because his life revolves around his guitars and his music. Rock and roll is Mr. A's class because I came into his class thinking it was going to suck but now I love it!! Rock and roll is fast cars, leather jackets, rolled up white t-shirts, faded jeans, and some high top Converse.
I haven't taken the time to stop and think "what is rock? Is rock and rock and roll a different thing?"
I think our music genres and creations have created such a wide variety and we just kind of put them all under the "rock" genre because it's what everyone talks about and everyone is suppose to love becuase ROCK AND ROLL ROCKS!
Rock can be almost anything to me. I don't have a straight forward opinion on what it is so most of what people say I might agree with.
I think old rock like 50s-60s doesn't sound like what I would label as rock. I think bands like the Beatles have a little lighter and calmer sound than the rock and roll I think of.
Maybe I think of metal when I think of rock just because I grew up on the more heavier side of rock and the lighter side of metal. I slowly got into heavier metal so I'm not use to soft rock or country rock.
I think rock and roll is in the eye of the beholder.

This week in class we had a whole torturous day of Bob Dylan. My brother use to get so mad because "Mr. A DOESN'T like Bob Dylan!" and being a following little sister I would reply HOW COULD HE, but now that I have actually listened to a few Bob Dylan albums, especially his Christmas album; I agree with Mr. A!
His voice is horrid and he makes me hate harmonica, which is pretty horrible.
Next day of class we were going to listen to the Rolling Stones, who I do enjoy a little. But instead we watched an episode of some Beatles thing.
The documentary itself was a little boring to me, I tried to pay attention to it as much as I could. What did embed itself in my brain was pretty interesting about the Beatles going to Germany, and getting deported, and Ringo joining the band, and everything else you need to know about the legendary Beatles.
Of course the gossip Mr. A told us after the documentary stuck with me. About the original bass player in the Beatles getting his mom knocked up and married by his friend that use to drive them around Germany or something? I don't know.
So yeah, I'm really really tired so Good Night :)

I just got back from my fourth day of ACL. Muse made an amazing come back and was one of the best shows so far. I got to be with an old friend and made a plan for the day.
When we got there we went to Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, the show was pretty great, but seemed a little long? After that we went to Jimmy Eat World who I didn't get to see last weekend, and oh my god they were wonderful!! After that I met up with a few friends and we all went to Electric Six, their show was great, I was surprised how little the crowd was. After that we went to the Black Angels, who weren't as good as they were last weekend.
After that we went to ARCTIC MOONKKEEEYYSS!! FAVORITE BAND EVER! I love them so much and their show just got better and better. We left Arctic Monkeys a little early to see Kaskade, which was surprisingly really good. The base dropped and it started pouring rain! It was such a relief from how hot it had been all day.
Last but certainly not least was Muse! The best show of today! They made such a great come back after starting late and the whole oil-less generator.
Today at ACL was a lot different from last weekend because there was such a difference in age of the people I was with. I got to bring my boyfriend so it was nice to always have someone there with me.
I'm really tired now, and I still have another blog to do so...

Thursday, October 3, 2013
So I was going to do this blog on the bands I already know that are going to ACL, but one of the band's I was going to talk about was Arctic Monkeys, and then I thought about how amazing they are so I'm gonna make this blog about only them.
The first song I ever heard from them was Do I Wanna Know, the music video is so cool. The whole sound waves images always interest me. Next I discovered R U Mine, I love this songs beat and sense of freedom and serenity. It makes me feel like I'm sitting in a car with a bunch of good friends and we're all singing our hearts out. After that I fell in love with them.
A few good songs by them are Brainstorm, When the Sun Goes Down, and Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair.

Have a great night/ ACL weekend :D
In class we went over the ACL line up, which I found very helpful since I am going both weekends. We only went over Friday in full detail, and I discovered a lot of cool bands. I've only heard one song by Okkervil River, Wake and Be Fine, but it has got me curious for the band so when I have time I will definitely do some research on them. My mother was very excited about a band we talked about, Shovels & Rope, here's their song Birmingham. I'm not all to excited about this band, it may just be that one song that I don't like. Although my mom was jumping out of her seat in excitement.
Electric six, I've heard their one song, Gay Bar, and it just doesn't blow my skirt up. I haven't researched them yet though. So FIDLAR has really caught my attention in this one song, No Waves, I mean they aren't all to great live, but I really enjoyed that one music video. I can't give a distinct reason why, I just like the sound and beat, it makes me feel happy. :)
I'm not sure I have a distinct plan on where I'm going and exactly when, but I actually know a few bands I can go to if we have no where else to go.

Have a wonderful weekend :)
Yesterday in class I got the wonderful privilege of folding choir brochures. A lot of my friends are in choir, but I've never heard them sing? I've heard Ysabell (sorry if I butchered her name) sing at foot ball games when we're bored. She has a beautiful voice.
My brother was on choir (Dylan Hooks) his freshman year in Anderson. I'm not sure he enjoyed it all to much, but I'm not entirely sure why.
I guess I should also talk about the movie A Hard Days Night, the humor is old and I don't have a lot of knowledge about things outside school and what people tell me (I have to get great grades and I keep getting moved to Pre- Ap by my mom so I don't have a lot of time for other things). I did think the movie was funny, and I enjoyed it to an extent. I thought Paul's grandfather was very funny. I didn't understand a lot of things though, but that may just be my own stupidity.
We had a session after the movie where we listened to "new" music. Mr. A brought up a few good bands, I enjoyed the song by Jaymes Young (I think that's his name) and one of Mr. A's friends that I can't recall the name of right now. I thought we were going to listen to his new album, and I was very curios about that, but I guess were saving that for another day.
I'm interested in seeing what kind of music Mr. A likes to play and how the...exciting.. happenings in his life have influenced his music.

OKAY SO MR. A THIS IS THE VIDEO I WANTED TO SHOW YOU IN CLASS. THIS IS A VIOLIN COVER THAT I THINK IS PRETTY GREAT :
I love how happy he is playing this song. I feel a lot of musicians don't really show much emotion while playing because its all flowing into whatever music they're making. I love when people get lost in their music and still have an ear-to-ear grin. I found this video on Tumblr so I can't really say I know much about this artist but I do enjoy this cover.
I am currently learning guitar and it's so hard for me to get lost in my music or really enjoy what I'm playing because I keep involuntarily thinking about where to put my fingers, am I pressing hard enough, what's the next notes fingering. A, D, and E chords were easy and I was pretty sure I was gonna do great and now we're on minor chords and notes with no common fingers and I'm worried I'm going to have to put a lot of time that I don't have into this class. (Of course I knew I would practice after school, but maybe instead of 20 minutes a day, maybe an hour or so.)
I don't know I just really wanted to show you this video because I remembered Mr. A's "Pop goes the Weasel" on his jaw because of playing viola.

For the past week we have been talking a lot about who other than the Beatles. Movies, albums, youtube videos, etc. I have respect for the Beatles, and I do like some of their music, but I'm just not their biggest fan. I'm actually watching Full House right now and Joey is trying to trick a man that is going to give Jessi a chance in the music business but would ruin who he is. Joey ended up comparing the man to "The guy who rejected the Beatles" because "Now he's the laughing stock of the music industry." (They actually got Jessi more money AND he got to keep his rock n' roll.) I love this show :).
I had to grow up on the Beatles because my father and brothers ADORED them. Although the more you listen to music, the more sick of it you become. There are a few songs I've always liked. I also think a lot of people like to get Beatles "band merch" when they don't really like them? I just don't understand, like why advertise a band you don't care about?

This week has been quite stressful for me so I haven't been able to look at a bunch of bands this week. I'm really trying to get some new songs into my library, but after hospital on Monday, standing in the rain on Tuesday, make up work from Monday on Wednesday, my first game (which ended with multiple injuries) on Thursday, and my friends all ditching on me at once on Friday. Now over the weekend I get to do more make up work because I never got a chance to do it on Thursday night. But I get to move upstairs :D YAY!
This blog ended up being me ranting about my week, sorry.
I'll be back with more music next week. Although here's some random songs that came onto my phone on shuffle, Courtship Dating by Crystal Castles, Expecting to Fly by Metric, Spectrum by Zedd (go to sad song, but I only have the acoustic on my phone, it's so wonderful.) and last Drive by Imagine Dragons.
Thanks for reading and dealing with my rant :)

For the time I was in class (sports med for my first game :D) we talked about The Beatles. I've always liked them but never been all that interested in them. I grew up on them of course because who didn't listen to The Beatles? I really never knew how huge they really were. I knew everyone knew of them, but I never realized women peed themselves at their concerts! The movie we watched was pretty cool, a little loud, but cool. I found it really interesting to learn about them; although I'm a little worried about listening to their album next class. I just don't want to be bored to death, but maybe it'll be fun :). Who knows?
I think the Beatles are an important part of music history, they kind of set the theme for a lot of bands and music genres. My favorite songs by them would probably be Help and maybe Eight Days a Week (that link might go to a playlist of Beatles, I'm not sure though.)

One day Mr. A talked about how the flow of new music is constant for us, and we are heavily influenced by it. Like in the fall it's one band, then in the summer another. But as he was talking about this he brought up Imagine Dragons. I actually love them!
I was downloading music and I just randomly decided to download all the Imagine Dragons I could! One of my favorite songs is Bleeding Out. I really like the fast, happy, beat; but the lyrics are kind of sad but like... Inspirational.
Imagine Dragons are my go to band when I may not feel to good, I can't help but smile because the music speaks to me so much and I can't help but jam out and sing at the top of my lungs when ever they come on. Some other of my favorites are Tiptoe, It's Time, and maybe Demons. I really adore Demons because of the video. It's in memory to Tyler Robinson, who was fighting cancer.. and lost. But at the end of the video, there's him on a man's shoulders, singing with the band, and when he finishes everyone's chanting his name.
I think Imagine Dragons dedication to their fans, and soulful, powerful lyrics are wonderful and up lifting. They're always there for me when no one else is.
(Also sorry these are late, I realize there's no excuse but I might as well try. I fell asleep and woke up around now (2 am) and freaked out and got right to blogging. Please forgive me and don't give me a 0.)

So, today in class we went over Asians taking over America. I never stopped to think that all the Japanese and Chinese company's do own U.S land and they could totally use that power to overthrow us! I'm sort of secretly terrified about that now, like some people think the world is secretly ruled by reptile aliens that disguise them selves as people, or Paul Mccartny's dead, or technology is going to advance so far that we are going to have robots and they're going to take over, but I think the Asian's are coming for us.
Conspiracy theories are so interesting to me, I mean who comes up with these? Like some people just sit at home and think of things that they could maybe pull off as true. Then they make documentaries about them! Then other people are like "Oh, okay, this is pretty cool, maybe it's true".
I feel like the U.S is so confident in ourselves, like we have no fear of anyone over throwing us because WHO WOULD DARE TRY!? America the free, home of the brave, you can't hurt us! We got freedom!! 'Merica!

Over the summer I got to go hang out with an old friend from middle school! Of course the first thing we did was show each other all the great music we had found. One rather odd band that she showed me is Die Antwoord. It's three South Africans, Yolandi, Ninja, and DJ Hi-Tek.
The second I heard Yolandi's high, childish, pitchy voice, I had to take a few minutes to catch my breath after laughing so hard. After I could breathe again, I started to listen and actually came to like them (even though they don't fit into my normal favored music genre)! They seemed to come at a great time, because a few days after that, my mom and brother (Wyatt) were off to Africa! They went to South Africa (met a lot of music producers that had met and worked with Die Antwoord), Zimbabwe. and Botswana! In Zimbabwe they were attacked by a cape buffalo, but they're okay, and that doesn't have anything to do with music. Oops.
My favorite song by them is Never Le Nkemise 1 and here's one Yolandi sings in I Fink U Freeky. I haven't actually listened to a lot of them though, just the Ten$ion album (both songs above are from it). I think they have a... unique sound. I did a lot of research on them because they were South African and I wanted Wyatt and my mom to meet them (they could of, but I don't know), I found out that their voices sound so funny because it's a South African accent. It's not a normal one, someone told me it was a equivalent to a "trailer trash" accent. But I'm really not sure if that's true and I don't mean to insult anyone!
I still like listening to Die Antwoord, but they've turned into one of those bands where I only listen to them when I'm in the mood to. Here's two other songs I like by them, Baby's On Fire and Enter The Ninja.

During this week, our topic changed a lot in class, but one really stood out to me.
The 50's Rock artists. My mother and I love plays and one of our most recent views was The Million Dollar Quartet. It contained Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. The second I heard Carl Perkins I could NOT get that play off my mind because it was one of my favorites so far! The actors were really good!
But, I enjoyed being able to start really knowing things about one of my family's greatest passions. It was interesting to learn about how rock advanced in such a short time. I like how free we are to our opinions, I think that's a pretty rare quality in a high school class. The multiple videos made class fun and easier to pay attention too.
Today in class we went over the Fun Fun Fun Fest and ACL lineups (check "Blog #1" for link). I haven't heard of to many music festivals, I knew of Fun Fun Fun Fest but someone told me it was for children and I lost interest (as I discovered today they were very wrong). I know of Lollapalooza, ACL, South by South West, and Bonnaroo.
I've never felt as free to speak as I do in History of Rock and Roll, it's strange...but fun.

Music is a huge part of my life. I grew up listening to guitars, drums, pianos, and even this one little wooden frog. Music is what brought my father and I closer, one day in the car, Dixie Chicks came on and of course I sang at the top of my lungs. I remember my dad turning around in the front seat and smiling at me and exclaiming "SING AGAIN! OH MY GOD BETH LISTEN TO HER BEAUTIFUL VOICE!" I went on to start singing a lot of Dixie Chicks and only Dixie Chicks, my first favorite was Long Time Gone. ( Link here.)
After Elementary school my singing career ended. Music stayed in my life though. From that awkward Hip Hop stage to the current Indie and 80's Rock stage. Music always seemed to be there when I most needed it. Although everyone in my family plays instruments (except me, but I am learning guitar!) so sometimes it was there when I least needed it. But I always thought they were pretty good.
I listen to music almost all the time, while I'm working, on the computer, talking with people, or even just sitting outside. I stick to more calm, slow, and up beat music. I've recently gotten into a little older Indie, but I can't name an exact decade. Favorite band right now is probably Metric, but after our discussions in class today about Fun Fun Fun Fest lineup and the ACL lineup I've been checking out XXYYXX (this ones kind of weird.) and Portugal, The Man. Still researching them a little, I kind of like them so far.
