Recently ive been listening to Blackmill. Its more of a electronic band. Sort of like the xx. It has soft beats and high voices to create kind of a soothing melody. I really like the song Let it Be. Ill try to add a link when I get a computer. Its off the album Reach for Glory.  I really like this song. It has so many mixed pitches that soothe your mind. It has a lot of fading in and out and I really like that. I like when you dont know what to expect next in a song. It helps me concentrate on it and the sole reason I listen to music is to get away for a few minutes. Its like an escape where everyone is feeling exactly what you feel. I think thats so soothing because you dont have explain anything, they just know and put it into words for you. The mood can change as quickly as yours does.
I love Let it Be because no matter what mood im in it helps.  It always takes care of me when I need it to.

Have a great day
Last time we talked about punk and grunge. I always thought punk just fell into the metal category.  I just thought of it as a style. Like soft grunge and punk are clothes and ways of life. I was really confused about how the music style is so broad and all just by one characteristic.
I usually just put the style of the band if its punk and thats what chatagorizes it. Bands like Nirvana would fall under grunge because of the dark, depressed, black and white style.
I dont really agree with how the bands are categorized. Just because they're "different" or aren't rock or hip hop. I dont get why people jusf put bands under this umbrella that is so broad it doesnt even give an accurate description.
I understand that medias messed up but why say a bunch of bands are what they arent? Its like saying a band like Metallica and Jay- Z are the same category. It just doesnt make sense to me.

I shared XXYYXX About you. People didnt seem to be interested but were more interested in figuring out my name. They all seemed to know the artist and song. After that I played Arctic Monkeys R U Mine. By then no one seemed to give two shits that I was up there. I really expected that. I mean who cares about the one sophomore in a senior class.
The overall experience wasnt my favorite. I like the idea of it though. Im perfectly fine with listening to music I dont like. I just dont like having it piled on me again and again at the end of the day and especially at the end of the week.
I did really like that everyone got a chance to go up and express themselves in a way a lot of us use. I just didnt like the genre of music played.
I think a lot of people abused this because it was a chance for everyone to express themselves but people used it as a joke.
I dont know. I loved the idea and concept of this activity. It was creative and diverse.

Have a great week!
Personally I didnt like our music sharing session. A lot of the music I didnt really like. I dont like rap. I dont like the messages it sends out and what they say. I think a lot of it is mindless and just... inappropriate. To me its all nigga nigga mothafucka weed and I just think thats obnoxious.  I also HATE the n word. We fought a war so African Americans could have rights and respect and now they accept the one word that degrades them most as a positive thing. Even white people and all ethnicities say it and it makes me so mad.
I did like conner and antons music. I currently like sophias as well. Conners black sabbath helped my angered mood while antons personal track gave me hope in humanity because it truly was amazing.
Sophia has similar music taste to my brother and I's and takes me back to ACL. I like the guitar and vocals. Im not concentrating on the lyrics themselves but I am now quiet interested in Spoon. I know I've head this song before.

I guess I'l blog about guitar for my personal music blog. We're learning bar chords which are kind of hard for me right now. I guess moving from one part of the neck to the other is just a bit hard because I'm not to great at speed. Especially when it comes to changing chords (oops). Our first song was All the Small Things by -Blink-182. I use to think this song was called Say it Ain't So. The only hard part about this song is the rhythm; the chords don't change much.
The other song we learned was an old favorite of mine Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes (this one's actually the music video). This song's rhythms easy and it's chords are okay. There's just a lot of them. I also missed the lesson on 5th string notes so I don't have them memorized as well as I would like. I think its 2-B 3-C 5-D 7-E 9-F 10-G 12-A? I don't know it's a lot harder to put that onto a guitar when you haven't practiced it.
I really appreciate that White Stripes have a girl drummer. Any girl in a rock band get respect from me. I think it's a bit harder for them to fit in and get respect from other men. They're all over sexualized and instead of realizing their talent everyone's like THEY'RE SO HOT, IF THEY'RE IN A BAND I CAN TOUCH THEIR BUTT YEAH! Or people just disregard their music because of their gender. I know my brothers usually won't happily listen to rock bands with women singers unless they've heard good things or like the first 5 seconds of it.
Although everyone has a right to their own opinion, and mine is; GUITAR IS SO HARD I NEED TO PRACTICE MORE.

Have a great (hopefully warm) night.
Last time we were in class, the subject  was that RHCP preformed at the Super Bowl and everything but the vocals were fake. Then we read over Flea's "apology" letter. All of this makes me mad. The fact that the band was unplugged the whole performance is the least of my problems. The fact that suddenly Flea has a right to talk for the whole band and that everyone is now putting these characteristics of treachery and deceit on the band because of what Flea explained. I guess I am a little disappointed in the band that the rest of them didn't say something as well. But I'm also appalled that the Super Bowl management demanded that they not preform live but with recorded instruments and only live vocals. There's a lot of things that were messed up in this whole situation. Yes RHCP did wrong, yes they didn't even try to hide it, and yes the super bowl management has something to do with it too.
But RHCP has always been a great band, they have always been great people, and they have amazing life performances. (ACL 2012) They've been a great band through thick and thin and I think we should accept they messed up (they should too) and we just get over this. I am a very bias opinion on this matter because RHCP have always been my idols and I grew up on them. They have been in my life since before I can remember. I do love them to death. (Not literally) I really don't know what to say to this, all in all I am upset, but for many reasons.
